Newborn pics

We decided that we wanted to do something special for price's birth that we didn't do for Quade's. When I was pregnant with Quade we did the 3D/4D pictures/video. For price we decided to have formal newborn/family pics taken. (thanks Emily for the referral!). It was a great experience and VERY reasonably priced. If you would like the name of the photographer let me know and i'll get it to you.

Here is the link to a video montage he made of the pics. I think it's only available online for the next 2 weeks:

1 week old!

Price turned officially one week today (Saturday, September 15th). We took him out for our traditional saturday morning breakfast (all of us, except price, wore baseball hats to breakfast)and then we went to the park. We ended the day with a trip to Wild about Harry's (our favorite frozen custard place). Delicious! ...from the pics it appears that price spent the entire day in his car seat...i promise we took him out a few times that day. =)

Celebration cookout

To celebrate price's birth we had a fun cookout at our place with our family. I realized i didn't get that many pics. Here is a cute one of quade and his cousin makenna. Also, Bruce surprised me with a present for going through the pregnancy/delivery/etc (our friend amber calls it a "push present"). He got me really beautiful diamond stud earrings. He's a keeper!

First football game...

Here are some pics from Price's first football game. It was my nephew Stephen's 8th grade game. My niece Allison is a cheerleader for the 7th and 8th grade teams so she was cheering at his game...which made it fun. Unfortunately price and I missed most of the game since he was "eating dinner"...
A big highlight of the night was that he met his aunt shannon and grandma macfadyen for the first time!
My nephew is the number 66 (no helmet, dark hair)...he sacked the quarterback at least 3x that game! way to go stephen!

This is my cute niece Allison...she's got spirit!!

My handsome boys already getting checked out by the cheerleaders!
Aunt Shannon (my brother Adam's wife)...she is expecting her own son due mid-december!
Grandma MacFadyen is in town! She is going to come stay with us and help us out this next week!

where credit is due...addendum

I realized that i should also take this time to thank all of our friends who have called, emailed, visited and offered their services. We feel so incredibly blessed to have such an amazing group of friends. Thank you also to all of you who have signed up to bring us food. you are too, too kind and we are so grateful!

where credit is due...

Well ya'll have been sweet in your comments on the blog. I wanted to make sure that i took time in this blog to acknowledge those who have helped make these first few days manageable and first few outings possible.

Nana and quade with the giraffe

My mom has been such a huge help. She watched quade for the days we were in the hospital and was even dedicated enough to take him to his first day of sunday school the day after price was born (our friends were shocked to see him there and were hoping Bruce hadn't left me at the hospital to bring quade to church!). Since we have been home mom has taken quade's monitor in her room and gotten up with him each morning. It has been so nice to be able to focus on price at night, sleep in a little, come downstairs and find quade finishing up breakfast. Then i get to sit on the couch and have a fabulous breakfast brought to me on a tray (this morning i had homemade french toast). She has also made us dinner each night, including some gigantic t-bone steaks! One more huge help has been having the extra hands to be able to take quade out of the house once and awhile. There are some pictures below of our trip to the zoo (which i would not have attempted if she was not here).

the brothers and the lion!

So, thanks mom!! you're the best and i don't know what i'm going to do when you live this weekend...i know i won't be eating french toast for breakfast that's for sure. =)

Obviously, Bruce has been a huge help as well. He has been very sweet and a huge emotional support. Since this time around we have had less family here while we were at the hospital we had some good time just he and I to hang out and recover. My last day at the hospital bruce surprised me with my most favorite dessert...a chocolate sack from Trulucks!! yummy! On tuesday he surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. He has been such a trooper trying to balance work and home and has been sweet enough to drive me to price's doctor's appointments this week. Here are some pics from price's first doctor's appt.

Love you bruce!!

Dr. moore checking out price's back (i think that's what he's doing?clark and joel may have more insight on this one)

getting his ticker checked out...doc said it sounded great!

9/11

Just the mention of that date reminds me of pictures of devastation and horror. It was a such a horrible day in our history. So I started to get nervous when this date grew closer and i still hadn't had Price. I really didn't want this date to be his birthday...if i could help it.
Well, that day is here and Price is 3 days old.
Unfortunately for Price today was the day he had his circumcision. We tried to make it an otherwise enjoyable day for him...here are the highlights:
Price trying to pick out his dessert (it's a little tricky when your eyes are closed and you don't eat solid foods)
The fam at our favorite brunch place...Cafe Brazil
Quade taking Price on his first ride in the car at the park
Dad and his boys
Price before the torture...i mean circumcision (poor guy)

Quade taking Price for a ride in his bike (do you think we will get called in by CPS for this?)

First day at home

Here are the highlights from Price's first full day at home. He is such a sweet boy. I know we are in the "glory" weeks where babies love to sleep...Price has been very sweet and easy to please. Quade has been incredible! Bruce and I are in awe at how sweet and loving he is to Price. Price has been covered in kisses and held constantly by Quade.

Coming home

Well, our experience at the hospital this time around was actually very relaxing and positive. I had somehow remembered that when you when in the hospital people were constantly knocking on your door, etc. This time around we got to rest A LOT in our room on Saturday. So, by the time Sunday came we felt pretty good. When the doctor came to check on me around noon we talked about when i should go home. She thought it would be fine for me to go home Sunday afternoon.

Our nurse was very efficient and we were out to the car by 3:30 pm that day! (less than 1 1/2 days after Price was born). It was just Bruce, Price and I. When we got home Nana and Quade were there to greet us. That evening we had a few visitors...Aunt Christina, Uncle Jeff and Makenna. Then our friends Tim and Ashley Sambrano stopped by. Several others were planning on visiting us at the hospital that afternoon, but we spoiled their plans by checking out early!

That night at dinner (yummy pizza hut) I had a weepy post-partum moment. Quade looked at me and said "Okay mommy? Pizza right there." so sweet!

The pictures!

Price is here!

Price is here! We had to wait for the doctor to arrive before i started pushing. Once she got there I only had to push 2x before Price made his appearance! He arrived at 8:30am Saturday the 8th. He weighed in at 8lbs 2 oz and was 21 inches long. Pictures to come.

8:00am Saturday. Heather's completely dilated now, and ready to party. Push!!!

Dialation at last!

Check at 6:15am, only 1.5 cm. Checked at 7:00am, 4 cm.

Drugs

Started Pitocin at 3am. Got epidural at 5am. Bad anesthesiologist.

The process begins...room 101

We got to the hospital around 10:30pm Friday night. She checked me and i was still only 1 cm dialated. Sooo they had us walk the halls for a little over an hour to see if my contractions got stronger and i dialated more.

She (nurse Ginger) checked me at 12:30 and i was still a 1 (with a little wiggle room). She called they doctor and they were going to send me home with some tylenol with codeine and a sleeping pill.
However, while she was talking to the doctor i had a super strong contraction that ended up breaking my water. when Ginger came back in i mentioned that i had a sharp pain and didn't know if my water broke (i feel like the boy who cried wolf in the "water breaking" department).
She didn't really say anything so i didn't push it. When she came back in again i had moved and felt a lot of "gushing". Bruce checked me and "didn't know what to look for". I had Ginger check and she did the amniotic test and sure enough...ruptured membranes (aka "broken water").
Unfortunately it was tinged green which means it has meconium in it, which means baby Price decided to take his first poo poo while still in my uterus.

Needless to say we are NOT going home now to take a nap. We're here for good. I now have a catheter in my uterus to flush saline in and "thin out the meconium". I also am hooked up to an IV. (i forgot how much i hate that part).

Anyway...that's all for now. I'm sure no one is even awake right now (except Christy in Norway) to read this entry. so by the time you are crawling out of bed on your relaxing saturday morning Price could have made his appearance.

Off to the hospital!

So we went to dinner at 6 pm and i started having contractions, but they were more like 10 minutes apart. (btw dinner was delicious...my mom took us to "the Porch" and i had beef stroganoff and then berry cobbler for dessert)

Then bruce and i went and saw a movie ("Rocket Science"...i wouldn't recommend it). During the movie i had contractions every 5 minutes lasting for 30 sec to 1 minute then they got closer after an hour. They were 4 minutes apart...anyway we called the doctor and she said might as well come in and get checked out.

stay posted!
